With 2 needles and 3 threads, make cover stitches that are useful for working knits or flat fabrics. With 1 needle and two threads, make chain stitches that are great for decorating or to ensure a better seam - ideally suited for sports and children's wear.
This may occur during transport to your home, when the box of the machine is not properly treated, in which the motor belt slips slightly. To save the return times, you could solve the problem at home following these instructions:
1- Unplug the machine from the power supply.
2- Remove the cover with the screwdriver (3 screws) where the handwheel is located.
3- You must correct the belt with your hand so that it is well tightened. With your finger, put the belt back in place while turning the handwheel.
4- Make some tests by turning the handwheel with your hand to verify that the needle moves as you turn the handwheel.
5- If your machine still not sewing, please contact us and we will be glad to help you.
To thread your Lumina Dalia Coverstitch machine you can follow these steps:
1-Raise the needles to their highest position using the handwheel.
2-Raise the presser foot lever to release the tension disks.
3-Place thread spools on the thread spool holders, ensuring that the spools rotate freely.
4-Thread the upper looper by passing the thread through the upper looper guide and then following the numbered threading path. Pass the thread through the upper looper thread guide and the upper looper thread guide lever.
5-Thread the lower looper by passing the thread through the lower looper guide and then following the numbered threading path. Pass the thread through the lower looper thread guide.
6-Thread the needles by passing the thread through the needle thread guides and then following the numbered threading path. Pass the thread through the needle thread tension discs and then through the needle eyes from left to right.
7-Hold onto the threads and lower the presser foot lever to engage the tension disks.
8-Pull the threads under the presser foot and to the back of the machine.
9-Set the machine for coverstitching and test the stitch on a piece of scrap fabric. (make sure to use scrap fabric of a similar weight and composition as your project fabric to ensure the stitch behaves properly.)
We were able to assess that this is a problem that can occur during transport to your home, when the box of the machine is not properly treated, in which the tension knob is crooked slightly.
Unfortunately, this inconvenience cannot be solved by you at home. Contact us and we will replace the machine immediately.
There are several things you can try to adjust it:
1-Check the threading: Ensure that the machine is threaded correctly according to the manual. Make sure that the threads are seated properly in the tension discs, as this can affect the stitch quality.
2-Adjust the tension: If the stitch looks loose or uneven, adjust the tension settings. The manual provides a table with recommended tension settings for different types of fabric and stitch combinations. Start by adjusting the upper looper tension, followed by the lower looper and then the needles. Make small adjustments and test the stitch on a piece of scrap fabric until the stitch looks even and balanced.
3-Check the stitch width: The stitch width can also affect the appearance of the stitch. If the stitch looks too wide or too narrow, adjust the stitch width dial according to the manual.
4-Change the needle: If the stitch looks skipped or uneven, it may be time to change the needles. Make sure to use the correct type and size of needles for your project and fabric.
5-Clean the machine: If the stitch quality doesn't improve after making adjustments, try cleaning the machine. Dust, lint, and debris can build up in the machine and affect the stitch quality.

The Lumina Dalia Coverstitch does not have an “Auto threading/adjustment” feature. However the coverstitch does come pre threaded so that you can tie to the thread ends and pull the thread through to assist with learning to thread correctly. The threading guides are color coded for easy threading.
The Lumina Dalia Coverstitch machine is pre-lubricated and do not require additional lubrication. However, a coverstich machine requires more frequent maintenance than a conventional sewing machine.
We recommend oiling the following areas of the machine:
1-Needle bar: Apply a drop of oil to the needle bar, which is the long, thin metal rod that holds the needle in place.
Thread take-up lever: Apply a drop of oil to the thread take-up lever, which is the metal arm that moves up and down to pull the thread through the fabric.
2-Presser bar: Apply a drop of oil to the presser bar, which is the metal bar that holds the presser foot in place.
3-Presser foot lifter: Apply a drop of oil to the presser foot lifter, which is the lever that raises and lowers the presser foot.
4-Looper mechanism: Apply a drop of oil to the looper mechanism, which is the part of the machine that creates the overlock stitch.
5-Thread guide bar: Apply a drop of oil to the thread guide bar, which is the metal bar that holds the thread guides in place.
Regular lubrication will help keep your machine. running smoothly and extend its lifespan.
No, the Lumina Dalia coverstitch does not do an overlcok stitch.
The Lumina Dalia Coverstitch is capable of sewing with denim but is not designed for sewing multiple layers of thick or heavy weight fabrics. We do not recommend a coverstitch if you plan to sew with multiple layers of jean weight denim. You will probably need a more heavy duty industrial coverstitch sewing machine.
When working with heavier fabrics such as denim, it's recommended to use a thicker needle and a strong, heavy-duty thread. The machine can handle needles up to size 90/14, which is suitable for sewing through heavier fabrics.
This helps in how different types and weights of fabric will feed through the machine. For example, for thicker/heavier fabric, it is recommended that you increase the pressure.
For constant quality stitching, the needle on your machine should be changed after at least 16 hours of sewing.
When there is looping on the back side of the fabric the first step is to rethread your machine making sure that the presser foot is raised. When the presser foot is raised it opens the tension assembly to receive the thread. Then as you thread the machine as you bring the thread down into the tension assembly floss the thread back and forth to assure that the thread is well seated in the tension unit. This technique will often correct the issue with the looping.
You can use a variety of fabrics with a coverstitch, including knits, woven fabrics, and even lightweight denim. It's important to adjust the tension and stitch settings to match the fabric you're using.
To adjust the tension on your serger, use the tension knobs located on the machine's front. Each knob corresponds to a different thread, and tightening or loosening the knobs will adjust the tension. Refer to your machine's manual for specific instructions on adjusting the tension.
To change the needles on your serger, follow these steps:
1-Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source.
2-Raise the presser foot and move the needle bar to its highest position.
3-Loosen the needle clamp screw by turning it counterclockwise using a small screwdriver.
4-Remove the old needle by pulling it straight down and out of the needle clamp.
5-Insert a new needle into the needle clamp with the flat side facing to the back of the machine. Push the needle up as far as it will go and then tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
7-Check that the needle is inserted correctly and securely by gently pulling on it.
8-Repeat the same process for the second needle if using a two-needle setup.
9-Lower the presser foot and thread the machine according to the instructions in the manual.
10-Test the machine on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure that the needles are properly inserted and that the stitching looks even and balanced.
To clean and maintain your Lumina Dalia, follow these tips:
1-Keep the machine covered when not in use.
2-Brush away lint and debris from the machine after each use.
3-Oil the machine as recommended before, every 6 months.
4-Keep the needles and blade sharp by replacing them regularly.
A coverstitch machine is designed for a specific type of stitch called a coverstitch, which is commonly used for hemming and finishing knit fabrics. It has multiple needles and loopers, and does not have feed dogs. Threading a coverstitch machine is more complex than threading a regular sewing machine. A regular sewing machine is a more versatile machine that can create a variety of stitches and is used for a wider range of sewing projects.
