This is a problem that can occur during transport to your home, when the box of the machine is not properly treated, in which the motor belt slips slightly. To save the return times, you could solve the problem at home following these instructions:
1- Unplug the machine from the power supply.
2- Remove the cover with the screwdriver (3 screws) where the handwheel is located.
3- You must correct the belt with your hand so that it is well tightened. With your finger, put the belt back in place while turning the handwheel.
4- Make some tests by turning the handwheel with your hand to verify that the needle moves as you turn the handwheel.
5- If your machine still not sewing, please contact us and we will be glad to help you.
To thread your Lumina Sienna serger, watch the following video in our Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUDhGo3OXHo
You can also follow these steps:
- Refer to your machine's manual for specific instructions, as threading methods may differ between models.
- Start by raising the presser foot and releasing the tension dials.
- Thread the upper looper first, followed by the lower looper and then the needles.
- Make sure the threads are properly seated in the thread guides and tension dials before testing your stitches.
We were able to assess that this is a problem that can occur during transport to your home, when the box of the machine is not properly treated, in which the tension knob is crooked slightly.
Unfortunately, this inconvenience cannot be solved by you at home. Contact us and we will replace the machine immediately.
There are several things you can try to adjust it:
1- Check the tension settings: The tension settings for each thread should be balanced. If one thread is too tight or too loose, it can affect the quality of the stitch. Consult your manual to find out how to adjust the tension settings and make sure they are set correctly.

2- Check the threading: Make sure that all the threads are properly threaded through the machine. Even one thread not correctly threaded can cause the stitches to be off.
3- Check the needle: A dull or bent needle can cause the stitches to be uneven or skip. Replace the needle if needed.
4- Use the appropriate needle and thread: Make sure you are using the appropriate needle and thread for the fabric you are sewing. A heavier fabric will require a heavier needle and thread.
Unfortunately, this inconvenience cannot be solved by you at home. Contact us and we will replace the machine immediately.
The Lumina Sienna Serger does not have an “Auto threading/adjustment” feature. However the serger does come pre threaded so that you can tie to the thread ends and pull the thread through to assist with learning to thread correctly. The threading guides are color coded for easy threading.
The LUMINA SIENNA serger machine is pre-lubricated and do not require additional lubrication.
However, an overlock machine requires more frequent maintenance than a conventional sewing machine for two reasons:
1) A lot of lint is produced when the cutters are cutting the fabric.
2) An overlock runs at a very high speed and needs to be oiled frequently to lubricate the internal working parts. We recommend lubricating after every 24 hours of use. Use sewing machine oil (Do not use any other oil, it could damage the machine). Please refer to your instruction manual for specific instructions for your serger.
Regular lubrication will help keep your machine. running smoothly and extend its lifespan.
No, the Lumina Sienna serger does not do a Cover Stitch.
The Lumina Sienna Serger is capable of sewing with denim but is not designed for sewing multiple layers of thick or heavy weight fabrics. We do not recommend a serger if you plan to sew with multiple layers of jean weight denim. You will probably need a more heavy duty industrial sewing machine.
This helps in how different types and weights of fabric will feed through the machine. For example, for thicker/heavier fabric, it is recommended that you increase the pressure.
For constant quality stitching, the needle on your machine should be changed after at least 16 hours of sewing.
When there is looping on the back side of the fabric the first step is to rethread your machine making sure that the presser foot is raised. When the presser foot is raised it opens the tension assembly to receive the thread. Then as you thread the machine as you bring the thread down into the tension assembly floss the thread back and forth to assure that the thread is well seated in the tension unit. This technique will often correct the issue with the looping.
This is usually a sign that the upper thread tension path has not been threaded correctly. It is recommended that you rethread the upper tension of the machine.
You can use a variety of fabrics with a serger, including knits, woven fabrics, and even lightweight denim. It's important to adjust the tension and stitch settings to match the fabric you're using.
To adjust the tension on your serger, use the tension knobs located on the machine's front. Each knob corresponds to a different thread, and tightening or loosening the knobs will adjust the tension. Refer to your machine's manual for specific instructions on adjusting the tension.

To change the needles on your serger, follow these steps:
1-Raise the presser foot and turn off the machine.
2-Remove the old needles by loosening the needle clamp screw and pulling the needles out.
3-Insert the new needles with the flat side facing the back of the machine, and push them up as far as they will go.
4-Tighten the needle clamp screw, making sure the needles are straight and properly seated.
To clean and maintain your serger, follow these tips:
1-Keep the machine covered when not in use.
2-Brush away lint and debris from the machine after each use.
3-Oil the machine as recommended before, every 6 months.
4-Keep the needles and blade sharp by replacing them regularly.

A serger is designed to trim and finish fabric edges, while a regular sewing machine is used for sewing seams and adding details like pockets and zippers. A serger creates a professional-looking edge finish with fewer steps, while a regular sewing machine offers more versatility in terms of stitching options.
To create a rolled hem with your serger, follow these steps:
1-Adjust the settings to use only the right needle and the upper and lower loopers.
2-Fold the edge of the fabric over twice, creating a small rolled edge.
3-Place the fabric under the presser foot and sew slowly, guiding the fabric as you go.
